Marha was born in Zelzate in 1958 and spent her childhood years in the quiet polders of Assenede. And it is precisely those polders with their beautiful fauna and flora that provide her with the basis for respect for nature, partly because of this, elements of nature can be found in some of her works.

This retreat on the Belgian-Dutch border will shape her later artistic paths, and in particular her musical and visual emotions.

From childhood she was drawn to art, colors and the lushness of nature.

Still, it isn't until years later that the passion will begin to develop and Marha goes to take lessons in the music academy of Ghent, attracted by the beautiful sounds of the church organ. She obtains the highest award.

Music becomes her great companion.

It is no coincidence that Bach becomes the composer of choice because of her organ study.

Especially the abstraction of absolute music will never let go of her.

She soon feels another talent bubbling up and is looking to put that on paper / canvas!

The step from tone series to color series seemed to be small.

Set on the road by painter Gaston De Fleurquin in St-Amandsberg, her true talent is expressed! He stimulates her to give free rein to her natural talent for working with colors and thus to give birth to an idiosyncratic oeuvre….

It is nevertheless very remarkable that this artist has evolved towards a completely different style concept in a short period of time. Initially she worked serially, but the last works seem to come from the visionary world of the immaterial.

It obliges us to stop analyzing. Without joining any direction, she searches her own way. Lessons in the Free Academy and the Volkshogeschool Elcker-ik in Ghent, followed by separate courses in drawing, mean that her works offer a wide spectrum of colors and shapes; they are, as it were, music become color.
